Houston Heat Pump Repair | Heat Pump Replacement & Installation Services in Houston, TX

Over the past few decades, more and more Houston NW home and business owners have turned to heat pumps to provide efficient, effective heating and cooling. At TemperaturePro, we’re no strangers to heat pump installation and repair, and we’ll be happy to bring our expertise to your home.

How a Heat Pump Works

While heat pumps are relatively new products, they have their origins in the basic cooling cycle invented by Willis Carrier a century ago. As used in a conventional air conditioner, this cooling cycle begins when the system collects heat at the indoor coil, called the evaporator coil. Special chemicals called refrigerants absorb the heat and become gaseous; the system then pumps the refrigerant gas to the outdoor coil, where a special pump called a compressor forces it to become liquid again. This second phase change releases heat outside the home; meanwhile, the liquid refrigerant returns to the indoor coil to collect more heat and repeat the cycle.

Heat pumps work just like air conditioners with one key difference: The cycle is reversible. During the cooling season, the heat pump acts as an air conditioner, pumping heat out of the home to cool things down. During the heating season, the system collects heat from the outdoor air and pumps it inside, warming the home.

Because they depend on the temperature of the outside air, heat pumps are well-suited for areas with fairly mild climates. In particular, they’re great choices for many Houston NW homes.

Heat Pump Installation, Maintenance and Repair

Like any HVAC system, heat pumps work best when they’re properly sized for the homes they heat and cool. We’ll start any replacement or new system installation project with a load calculation to measure your home’s heating and cooling needs, then work with you to find a heat pump that can match both of those needs. Proper sizing avoids the uncomfortable temperature changes and maintenance issues that come with an over- or under-sized system.

Because heat pumps stay in operation all year long, regular professional maintenance is strongly recommended. Good home maintenance helps, but most homeowners find that professional service is a wise investment in these dual-use systems. During any maintenance visit, we’ll not only clear up any emerging issues that could lead to future repairs but also make calibration adjustments to help your heat pump run at peak efficiency. You’ll save money now on your electric bill and even more down the road by avoiding expensive issues.

Even a well-maintained heat pump might run into issues at any time, and whether that’s a shutdown during a July heat wave or failure to start during a January cold spell, those issues can put your family at risk. That’s why we’re available 24 hours a day for emergency heat pump repair. Our flat-rate pricing system means you’ll never be surprised by repair costs, and our NATE-certified contractors are fully qualified to fix all makes and models of heat pumps.
